Dr Brian Millar, Course Director
Brian is the Course Director of the M.Clin.Dent. in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. He has worked at GKT since 1983 and before that was in full-time general dental practice. He gained his Fellowship (Royal College of Surgeons of England) in 1985 and PhD (University of London) in 1990 then completed a higher surgical training programme in Restorative Dentistry. He has published widely on prosthodontics and has lectured widely throughout the UK and internationally. His informal, hands-on courses are popular and cover many aspects of prosthodontics. Brian is committed to dental education, is a full member of the Institute for Learning and Teaching, and is particularly involved in the administration, planning and delivery of the M.Clin.Dent. programme. His aim is to keep this course academically stimulating, evidence-based and relevant to the practice of prosthodontics.

Laura Barsi
Course Administrator

Laura was appointed Administrator in the Unit of Distance Education in January 1999. She is the course co-ordinator of the M.Clin.Dent. in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics for External students. She has been working in higher education administration since 1991, mainly with postgraduate students at Goldsmiths College. After study in Italy, in 1995 she obtained an MA degree in Romance Languages and Literature (French) from Birkbeck College, University of London. She is particularly interested in distance learning and adult education and takes an active role in the development of the M.Clin.Dent. degree course. She is responsible for the management of the Unit of Distance Education office (M.Clin.Dent. Prosthodontics) and the support team of administrative and secretarial staff.

Dr Steve Dunne
Steve is Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in the Department of Conservative Dentistry. He qualified in Dental Surgery in 1976 from University College Dental School, London, and gained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery in 1983 and his Doctorate in 1989. Stephen is the author of two textbooks and has contributed substantially to national and international scientific journals. His clinical and research interests include adhesive dentistry, occlusion and clinical aspects of dental materials, and he is a founder member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Primary Dental Care. He has established an international reputation and has been invited to lecture and demonstrate in many countries, including Germany, Argentina, Iceland, Hong Kong, Italy and The Netherlands. Dr Dunne is committed to continuing postgraduate education, teaching over 30 clinical postgraduate courses each year throughout the UK and overseas. He has played a major role in the development of the Distance Learning M.Clin.Dent. degree for which he is the Deputy Course Director.

Dr Mark Packer
Mark is a Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in the department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at GKT. He has been involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate education since 1983. His particular clinical interests include management of the elderly patient and problems posed by the worn dentition. His main research interests are dental education and implant-retained overdentures. Mark's main responsibility as Assistant Director (Clinical) for the M.Clin.Dent. is to monitor and provide feedback on the clinical casework submitted by postgraduate students.

Dr David Davis
David is Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at GKT. He qualified from the London Hospital Dental School in 1968 and has been at King's since 1974. From 1986–87 he was Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto. His research interests are centred around implantology, in particular the use of implants for overdentures, the evaluation of people's feelings and reactions to tooth loss and their replacement, and appropriate care for elderly people.

Dr Brett Robinson
Brett is a full-time Senior Lecturer/Consultant at GKT. He qualified at the Royal Dental Hospital in 1971 and has followed an academic teaching career, spending a year in the United States researching and teaching in Operative Dentistry. He has been associated with the MSc in Oral Surgery at the Eastman Institute. He obtained a PhD in Metabolic Bone Disease in 1984. His main interests are in the management of dentistry, receiving an MBA (Hons) in 1993, and teaching methods in Conservative Dentistry. He is currently completing a Diploma in Dental and Medical Education. Dr Robinson manages postgraduate courses on Endodontics and teaches Endodontics to undergraduates. His other interests include finite element analysis and research in dental materials.

Professor David Smith
David has worked at GKT since 1969. Before that he spent some time in general dental practice and also worked as a Registrar at Guy's Hospital. He was appointed Head of the Department of Dental Radiology at King's in 1972 and was given a Chair in 1978. He was responsible for the introduction of the MSc in Dental Radiology to internal students in 1975 and to External students in 1990. He was responsible for introducing the M.Clin.Dent. in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics degree and was Course Director until the end of 2002. He is now responsible for the production of the web-based version of the degree.
