Course
Director's Welcome
A
message from Tim Newton, Community Dental Practice and Dental
Public Health Course Director.
Health
is a basic human need, and yet throughout the world there is a
growing recognition that ‘health ’ is not evenly distributed.Inequalities
exist in oral health both between countries and within countries.
A key goal for all providers of health services in the future
will be the design of services to reduce these inequalities and
to meet the health needs of local populations. The MSc programmes
in Community Dental Practice and Dental Public Health have been
created to provide people with the skills necessary for identifying
health needs and to plan, implement and evaluate services to meet
those
needs. The courses combine theory and practice in order to equip
course participants as leaders and developers of health services. Our
distance learning programmes have helped many people to develop
their professional roles in this way.
As a department Kings College thoroughly enjoy working with people
from throughout the UK and abroad. Many students from all over
the world have taken courses in the department and quite a number
have remained friends long after their studies with the University
have ended.I look forward to welcoming you.
